Narrow-band terahertz wavetrains generated by optical rectification in periodically-poled lithium niobate

摘要
We demonstrate a method for generating multi-cycle terahertz electromagnetic waveforms by optically rectifying femtosecond pulses in periodically-poled lithium niobate. For a 1.2 mm crystal with 30 mum domains, a 1.80 THz wave with 0.07 THz bandwidth is generated. The crystal domain structure largely determines the THz waveform.
