This paper conducts an analysis on the driving factors of the intensive use of urban land on the basis of defining the connotation of using intensive land use; constructs a evaluation system of the use intensity of urban downtown land from the aspects of quantity structure of land us, the land input intensity, the land use intensity and the efficiency and sustainable development of land use; applies the method of AHP to confirm the weights of evaluation indexes; makes weighted summation of each index based on the standardization of original data and index weight, in order to get the comprehensive index of land use intensity, aiming at quantitatively confirming the level of land use intensity in urban downtown and exploring the quantitative evaluation method of land use intensity in downtown area. This paper selects the downtown area of Zaozhuang as the example to apply for and examine this evaluation method. Use The regional practice of intensive land use has gained fast expansion since China's entry into the phase of rapid urbanization. Over the past 15 years, the research on the regional practice of intensive land use has gradually transformed from the research on individual city into the one on urban agglomeration and urban belt, and then into the research on the land with special functions within a city, e.g. industrial park or agricultural land. One of the keys to the research and practice of intensive land use is evaluation. Currently, research on the evaluation of intensive land use mainly focuses on four levels: 1) research on the evaluation system of intensive land use from the macro-perspective [1]; 2) evaluate on the use intensity of land within the administrative region of a certain city [2]; 3) evaluate on the use intensity of land within certain functional zone [3]; 4) evaluate on the use intensity of parcel land in urban area [4]. The research covers the microcosmic, middle and macroscopic views. From the perspective of urban planning, the intensive use evaluation of downtown land is more meaningful for the strategy establishment of urban renewal and urban development. This paper takes the downtown area of mid-and-small-sized cities, which have been little referred in the previous literature, as its subject, to research on the evaluation of the intensive use of urban land.
