摘要
It is important to understand the fatigue crack growth in order to avoid failure of components, especially in aerodynamic applications. Here Delta K, crack growth rate and fatigue life values for a non-cold expanded hole with cracked hole is evaluated using FEA and the results of the same is compared with classical method. The percentage difference between the FEA solution and classical solution for SIF is 3.4 %. Similarly the percentage difference between the FEA solution and classical solution for crack growth rate is 10.71 %. The fatigue life test results from classical solution is 1.844x10(3) cycles and that obtained through FEA is 1.844x10(3) cycles. It is same for FEA solution because of the fact that crack growth is neglected. It is evident that the variation of the FEA results of Delta K, crack growth rate and fatigue life are good agreement with that obtained from classical solution and hence the above FE Method can be successfully used to predict the FCG for non-cold expanded hole.
