摘要
A graduate program of research and clinical training that was designed to equip psychologists to assume diverse professional roles in pediatric medical settings is described. Having evolved from a long history of collaboration between faculty in a department of psychology and school of medicine, this program features specialized interdisciplinary training in research and clinical care, including consultation and collaborative skills and scholarly activities, such as preparing manuscripts and research grants. The program has facilitated students' careers, employment in medical settings, and scholarly productivity in their fields of interest. Experiences from this program may be useful in the development of graduate training programs designed to equip psychologists to assume the diverse professional roles necessary to function effectively in the academic medical health centers of the future.
