An economic analysis of the regulation and transportation of hazardous waste

This research analyzes the current practices and trends related to the transportation of hazardous waste materials with special emphasis on the Department of Transportation's guidelines for transporting contaminants. Several major problems associated with hazardous waste is addressed including the following: tracking and documenting of the movement, notification requirements of imports and exports, labeling and placement of safety markets, initial and recurrent records of employee training for handling contaminants, compliance and violations. Additionally, this study will analyze the economic impact of the regulations and guidelines for the transport of hazardous materials using the 2001 Penalty Action Report from the Department of Transportation.
