Spin pairing in quantum dots with many electrons

Quantum dots with reduced electron-electron interactions are fabricated by means of lithoraphy with an atomic force microscope (AFM), Transport measurements in the Coulomb blockade regime reveal a pairwise correlation of both the position and the amplitude of the Coulomb blockade resonances, which is interpreted as spin pairing. Due to exchange interaction effects, the spin degeneracy is removed, which modifies the distribution of the nearest-neighbor peak spacings, but leaves the amplitude distribution unchanged.
