摘要
This article is aimed to investigate the scattering behaviour of ultra-wideband (UWB) planar antenna in the vicinity of a heterogeneous breast model. A small size (30x15x0.8 mm(3)) UWB directional antenna is proposed in this study having a gain and directivity of 6.09 dB and 8.15 dB respectively. The scattering behaviour of antenna is analysed for both near field and far field regions in the lower band of UWB frequency i.e. 3 GHz to 6 GHz. A heterogeneous breast model is also build for experimental purposes. Both simulation and experimental results indicate that the proposed antenna suffers from higher scattering loss, i.e. reflection and transmission loss, in its far-field region than reactive near-field region. Moreover, the reflection loss is comparatively less at higher frequencies i.e. 4 GHz to 5.5 GHz. The experimental results also show that transmission loss is high in lower frequencies i.e. 3 GHz to 4.5 GHz.
