Dislocated bilateral avulsion fractures of the lesser tuberosity

The isolated fracture of the lesser tuberosity is rare injury. In the case presented here, the bilateral injury simultaneously occurred in the context of a generalized seizure. With clear displacement of the tuberosity, surgery was performed. In order to combine good tear-out resistance with a slender implant, fixation with an angle-stable titanium one third tubular plate was chosen. The advantage of this treatment with the exercise-stable osteosynthesis was that no immobilization phase was required postoperatively and the patient was able to rapidly use both shoulders.
