Metasurfaces to Control Direction of Wave Propagation at the Same Frequency

摘要
In this study, we demonstrate circuit-based metasurfaces, or the so-called waveform-selective metasurfaces (WSMs), to control the transmittances of various surface waves at the same frequency in response to their pulse widths. Especially, we show three types of WSMs that preferentially transmit either of a short pulse, a continuous wave, or an intermediate pulse at a constant frequency. These structures are all combined to allow the propagation of surface waves to different directions depending on their pulse widths. Thus, the concept of these structures can be potentially exploited for new solutions to electromagnetic interference issues, antenna designs, and wireless communications at the same frequency.
