摘要
The stern tube is fitted with a ship's propeller shaft with a degree of technical redundancy, to protect the shaft against corrosion by seawater and wear with a bearing shaft, during work. Currently, the calculation and selection of this assembly is still done by experience, without a clear scientific basis. This paper, which presents the calculation of the required technical redundancy for the joint between the stern tube and the ship propeller shaft, based on the load acting on the joint, from which the corresponding standard fitting is selected, ensuring the this technical redundancy.
