The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C13H10ClN3O2 center dot-H2O, consists of a Schiff base molecule and a solvent water molecule. The Schiff base molecule displays a trans configuration with respect to the C=N double bond. The dihedral angle between the benzene and pyridine rings is 22.3 (3)degrees.
