Feasibility of adding filtering process in Web browser to improve Web search accuracy

摘要
World Wide Web provides pervasive amount information to all the people in all different disciplines. One common difficulty is how to End useful, relevant information among the hundreds and thousands of URLs returned by the search engines. Many research efforts have been made to provide more accurate search in reasonable amount of time. Many proposed methods involve collecting user's personal information, search habit at the search engine side, which causes privacy concern. This paper studies the feasibility of storing personalized search profile on the client side that is private to each user. The results indicate that such a method is feasible that it does not cause too much extra delay when adding extra processing at the browser side. The paper describes the system architecture and presents some initial results.
