Cylindrical and spherical ion-acoustic solitary waves with dissipative effect

摘要
The combined effects of bounded nonplanar geometry and ion fluid viscosity on ion-acoustic solitary wave (IASW) in an unmagnetized plasma is investigated for the first time. By using the standard reductive perturbation method, a dissipative cylindrical/spherical Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation is obtained. The changing law of IASW amplitude due to the geometry and dissipation effects is deduced analytically in two limiting cases when the geometry effect is much stronger and weaker. The analytically results are also verified by numerical calculation of the fully dissipative cylindrical/spherical KdV equation. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
