The present state of the active use of elevated temperatures in liquid chromatography is reviewed, including the effects on retention, selectivity and efficiency. Separations in aqueous mobile phases as well as non-aqueous media are discussed, with particular emphasis on narrow-bore columns. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
