摘要
The hydration depth is the hydrated thickness of cement particle, which reflects the hydration process. The hydration depths of cement particles with different sizes are different. Understanding and controlling the hydration depth may improve the quality and economy of the cement-based material. In this paper, a method is proposed to characterize the hydration depths of cement particles with different sizes in hardened cement-based materials by combining backscattered electron images and the stereological method. The hydration depths of cement particles in hardened cement paste with a water-cement ratio of 0.35 were characterized at the age of 28 days. The results show that the cement particles below 2 gm are completely hydrated and the hydration depths of cement particles below 10 gm are about 2 gm. In the present case, the characterization method has good accuracy for cement particles below 16 gm. (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
