Normalization of magnetotelluric sounding curves distorted by the S effect

摘要：
The influence of the S effect on transverse curves of magnetotelluric sounding (NITS) is analyzed. A distortion coefficient obtained in the paper can be used to quantify the S effect as a function of the width of S layer structures. The width of structures suitable for the normalization of NITS curves is determined by an expression that in turn depends on this width.
