In order to improve the utilization rate of solar energy, the automatic solar tracking device driven directly by stepping motor emerges as the times require. However, with the relatively small torque and high cost, the stepping motor only can drive a limited number of panels. To solve this problem, an improved automatic solar tracking system is proposed, in this system double-rocker mechanism driven by stepping motor is used effectively to control a large number of photovoltaic arrays in horizontal and pitch direction. The experimental results show that, the system we proposed not only can automatically track the position of the sun Real-time and accurately, but also reduce the cost effectively, the generation efficiency is increased by 35% compared with the fixed photovoltaic arrays.
