For over 60 years, thermal spray has achieved outstanding technological and commercial progress in the aerospace, gas turbine, engineering and biomedical Industries. Worldsvide active R&D efforts have enabled today new deposits, new fonctionalities and new processes to be achieved and that could meet during the early next century some untapped innovation needs of new large breakthrough markets. More project teamwork, more market driven R&D and end-user education efforts will certainly successfully fuel thermal spraying into a bright future for the next millennium. [GRAPHICS] in the next millennium the manufacturing and engineering industries will continue to change dramatically. And for numerous engineering or consumer durable products appropriate surface engineering is becoming a decisive factor in sustaining competitive edge.
