Interpersonal needs in relationships and ideas about friendship in adolescence

The article is devoted to the analysis of representations about friendship and same-sex friendship in youth in relation to the needs for interpersonal relationships (inclusiveness, control and affect). The significance of friendship is important at all stages of life, filling it with meaning, satisfaction and co-development. There is a mutual influence of interpersonal relationships and the content of ideas about friendship, determining first of all its quality in real life. The main goal of the study was to analyze interpersonal needs as predictors of the main components of the image of friendship and same-sex friendship as a social representation. The respondents were 102 people aged 18-25 years (M = 20.96; SD = 2.22), boys 46%, girls 54%. The following research methods were used: "questionnaire of interpersonal relations" By V. Schutz in the adaptation by A.A. Rukavishnikov; author's modification of the questionnaire "Ideas about friendship" by E.V. Yurkova. Excel and SPSS (V. 23) (descriptive statistics, percentage, correlation, and regression analysis) were used to process the obtained data. The most significant predictor of friendship components in young people is the need for inclusion in interpersonal relationships. The importance and significance of the component representations of same-sex friendship in young people was predicted of growth combination severe involvement of youth in relationships with the need to be controlled by other people. The study confirmed the existence of positive characteristics in the concepts of friendship and same-sex friendship, as well as the significance of the factor of belonging as inclusion in interpersonal relationships.
