摘要
An important application of shared virtual environments is for on-line visualisation and information control that has to be supported by real-time data transfer. The bottleneck element in transferring data between shared the virtual environments is networking protocols. This paper provides an evaluation on the suitability of various network protocols against the application requirements of distributed virtual environments, with an emphasis on the Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS) protocol and its support for shared virtual environments with MMS-enabled Virtual Reality (VR) systems and MMS-based controls.
