CREATING A MULTIPOLAR SYSTEM OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND POSSIBILITY OF EUROPEAN UNION ROLE IN THIS SYSTEM

The article analyses the topic of securing the safety on the European continent in terms of the transformation of the world system of international relations from monopolar to multipolar. The author believes that the European Union must carry out an institutional reform to be able to face the new challenges and threats taking place in the contemporary world. First of all, it concerns the need to create a single European army, separate from NATO, a coherent EU foreign policy ( instead of the existing twenty-eight foreign policies), as well as the need to finalize the system of the single European currency and the Schengen area, common to all EU Member States, with exactly marked and protected external borders.
