摘要：
Under United Nations leadership the counties of the world committed to work towards sustainable forestry: socially, economically, and environmentally. Geographically, groups of countries identified criteria and indicators as measures of sustainability. Then individual countries completed First Approximation Reports summarizing the data collected. Today's focus is on attaining sustainable forest management at the forest management unit level. Several different, yet valid approaches are illustrated in the following papers.
