Microarray analysis of regional patterning of suture-specific dura mater

A wealth of data suggests the regulation of murine suture fusion and patency by developmentally patterned, suture-specific dura mater.(1) However, the extent of these differences remains unknown. In this study we used microarray technology to perform transcriptional profiling of regional dura mater from the fusing posterior frontal (PF) suture and patent sagittal (SAG) suture at time-points before (d15) and during (d25) the process of posterior frontal suture fusion. This data demonstrated an increase in 43 genes in the posterior frontal suture at d15 and 137 genes at d25, and included well known markers of osteogenesis such as Runx2 and Dlx5. In addition, a novel transcription factor regulating epithelial-to-mesenchymal transformations was identified.
