摘要
This research work mainly focuses on the mechanical and metallurgical studies on commercially pure copper and stainless steel 316L dissimilar joints produced by laser welding technique. The following tests were conducted on the laser-welded specimen: the tensile test of weldments, Vickers microhardness, optical metallography, study of the chemical composition of the intermediate layer using EDS. During the tensile tests, the weld region is showing maximum yield and ultimate tensile strength. Moreover the percentage of elongation is higher in the weld region. Vickers microhardness results showed that the Copper base had the least hardness. Whereas in the weld section of Cu-SS316L region had the maximum hardness value. The SEM morphology illustrates the adequate presence of Cu and SS316L constitutes in the weld region. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
