Radical terpolymerization of acrylamide, acrylic acid and N-(1,1-dimethyl-3-oxobutyl) acrylamide

摘要
The synthesis of terpolymers from acrylamide (AM, monomer 1), acrylic acid (AA, monomer 2) and N-(1,1-dimethyl 3-oxobutyl) acrylamide (DAAM, monomer 3) has been carried out in a water solution, at 30 degrees C using K2S2O4 as an initiator. The characterization of terpolymers has been obtained through H-1 NMR, microanalysis and gel permeation chromatography. Radical copolymerization of AM/AA, AM/DAAM and AA/DAAM were carried out in the same way as the terpolymerization described. The reactivity ratios for those couples have been assessed and are respectively r(12) = 0.63; r(21) = 1.43; r(13) = 1.07; r(31) = 0.54; r(23) = 1.46; r(32) = 9.32. Those values enable to foresee the monomer compositions into terpolymers. The composition range allowing to obtain polymers both soluble in waterand organic solvents has been identified.
