摘要
Two important problems on the settlement prediction and the soil stabilization of soft clayey grounds are discussed in this paper, in relation to the effect of secondary consolidation on the routine method of practice. Though the result published in the IS-Hiroshima 95 showed that the practical EOP (end of primary) obtained from long-term experiments and field measurements had become in between the A and the B hypotheses, the importance of gradual decrease of C-a is emphasized this time. A successful case record of the precompression technique carried out in the early 1980's is introduced, in order to show that it is possible to reduce the residual settlement including the secondary consolidation of a structure constructed on a very soft clayey ground to practically zero by utilizing this technique.
