Equilibrium of dressed-states for a cooled and trapped ion

摘要：
Cooling of a trapped two-level ion in the strong-coupling regime is studied in the presence of a weak broad-band radiation. The first- and second-sideband regimes are considered in detail. The dynamics of dressed states of a trapped and laser-driven ion due to coupling with a temperature reservoir is described and the equilibrium distribution of vibrational levels in the steady-state is obtained. It is pointed out that this system displays an inversion between the ionic excited and ground states with definite trap numbers. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
