The importance of knowledge in governance presents increasing pressures on the science-society contract. A re-thinking of the nature of 'knowledge policy' is required. By examining the changing context and processes of the production of knowledge, this article examines whether and how policy organizations can learn to adapt to complex knowledge environments.
