Figure of merit for muon ionization cooling

摘要
This paper describes a few relevant features of beam emittance that usually go unnoticed in typical beam profile measurements, but are of significance when determining the performance of a muon cooling channel with high accuracy, in the presence of a wide energy spread and solenoidal magnetic field.
