摘要
A major aim of psychoanalysis is to increase awareness of unconscious psychic conflicts. Today, however, the decisive conflict for the future of humanity, and thus for psychoanalysis, concerns unthought aspects of our relationship to the environment. The coronavirus pandemic is the first undeniable widespread manifestation of a global environmental crisis brought about by the loss of our planet's biodiversity, effectively, the loss of its "immune tissue." Despite this situation, we seem unable to abandon the illusion of endless economic growth, that is, unable to abandon the endless destruction of planetary biodiversity. To the author, this paradox constitutes a collective psychic symptom. He explores its impact by examining two conflicting reactions, psychotic and non-psychotic, to confinement and de-confinement measures during the analytic process.
