Detection of Fractures and Hairline-fractures in X-Ray Images Using Image Processing

This paper presents an advanced program for detection the fractures in X-Ray images. The main contributions in the developed technique include: (1) enhance the X-Ray images using different type of filters. This enhancement on images will make the detection of fracture position easier by orthopedics. (2) Detect the fractures position automatically with high fracture detection rate, which make the diagnosis of fracture easier. The proposed scheme will help the doctor in recognizing the fractures in X-ray images, especially for hairline fractures, which are difficult to be detected by human eyes. The developed program is illustrated on a large number of X-ray images of long bones.
