Fabrication of Al2O3-Ti aluminides composite by mechanical alloying process

摘要
Al2O3/Ti-Al composite were synthesized through mechanical alloying (MA) powders of Ti-Al-TiO2, and then were hot press sintered. The mechanical alloying process were carefully studied by XRD and the results show that in whole MA process, the Ti structure is maintained while the other elements such as Al and TiO2 dissolve into the Ti structure and all diffraction peaks showed broadened character and shift, which indicated that all the powders crystal structure transform to a non-equilibrium state. The morphology and EDS analyses of the mechanically alloyed powders show that the powders were well alloyed in single particles. Compared with a reactive sintered sample, the composite material made from MA powders has a homogeneous structure with very fine grain size.
