摘要
With the fast development of higher vocational education in China, the faculty becomes the key factor of restricting the teaching quality improvement of colleges and the overall development of education career. A case study is conducted about teaching faculty's structure of age, educational background and level of scientific research in Foreign Languages Department of Wuhan Commercial Service College. The main source of data came from a recent survey. The results show that the number of young teachers cover half of the faculty, whose lower educational levels and lack of scientific research methods hinder their further development. The imbalanced teaching faculty's structure has a great impact on teaching quality. This calls for more efforts in developing teachers' level of education so as to help teachers gain professional growth and promotion. English teachers in higher vocational colleges should be supplemented by various forms of development activities to meet the dual goals of providing professional development for teachers and developing higher vocational education quality.
