Dual-Band Dual-Polarized Shared-Aperture Ku/Ka-Band Phased Array Antenna Using End-Fire Dipole Radiating Element

摘要
In this article, a dual-band dual-polarized shared-aperture phased array antenna working at Ku/Ka-band is proposed for the radar and communication applications. The end-fire dipole with the longitudinal blank is adopted to the radiating element of two bands to add some special structures to decouple the dual-band antennas, and the antenna elements are adjusted carefully to improve the beam scanning performance of the Ka-band antenna. A finite shared-aperture phased array antenna composed of 4x4 small-scale Ku-band dual- polarized and Ka-band 4x8 small-scale single-polarized antenna array is simulated. The scanning range reached +/- 50 degrees and the active voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is not more than 3.5 in the beam-scanning coverage at the both Ka- band and Ku-band antenna array. The antenna prototype is fabricated and measured.
