A novel technique which combined tape casting and isostatic pressing was used to prepare YSZ membranes. The effects of isostatic pressing on green and as-sintered tape density and microstructure as well as electrical conductivity were measured and observed. The results showed that the isostatic pressing could raise the density of green tape and sintered membrane by 8 similar to 11% and 5 similar to 10% respectively, and the electrical conductivity of sintered membrane exhibited some improvement.
