On the Curvature Analysis and the Ranges of Design Parameters of a Modified Spur Gear with Crowned Teeth for Avoiding Undercutting

摘要
Based on gearing theory, the curvature analysis model for an innovative modified spur gear with crowned teeth is developed. Applying the model, the analytical solutions of design-parameter-ranges for avoiding undercutting of the gear are proposed. They should be helpful on designing the innovative modified spur gear without undercutting. Computer programs are developed based on the models, and numerical examples are given to verify the proposed models and to demonstrate gear characteristics.
