Terahertz Polarization Splitter Based on Partial Coupling in Dual Slotted Core Polymer Fiber

摘要
A terahertz (THz) polarization splitter based on asymmetric dual slotted core polymer fiber is proposed and numerically investigated. The dual slotted core composed of subwavelength-scale air slots that are independently suspended within the fiber, not only allows for single-mode propagation for the two orthogonal polarization modes with low absorption losses, but also enables them to couple with each other. The transmission modes, splitting lengths, and pertinent performance parameters are numerically investigated at a center-frequency of 1.0 THz, which shows a short splitting length of 1 cm, an ultra-low transmission loss of 0.4 dB, a bandwidth of 0.18 THz and extinction ratios (ER) of -17.66 dB for X polarization mode and-90.66 dB for Y polarization mode.
