摘要
The purpose of the current work is to study the impact of Fe2O3 content on the optical properties and radiation shielding efficiency of the 10.5CaO+ 16.5 Na2O+ (73- x)B2O3 + xFe(2)O(3) glass system (x = 0, 5 and 10.5 mol. %) for energies up to 15 MeV. A full understanding for the optical features of the present glasses is achieved by computing different important factors such as reflection loss, metallization criterion, optical transmission, and static dielectric constant. Moreover, the radiation shielding efficiency of the studied glassy systems is evaluated and extensively studied by employing FLUKA simulations. It is found that there is an important influence of Fe2O3 content on the optical properties and radiation shielding efficiency of the suited glass system. For example, the CNBF-C (where x = 10.5 mol. %) possesses the highest reflection loss and the highest optical transmission. It can be clearly concluded that the present optical glass system has a potential use in hospitals and nuclear facilities where the shielding applications are required.
