The Estoria de Espanna gave rise to a broad series of continuations and adaptations in the centuries that followed its composition. The present article situates one of these continuations - the Cronica particular de San Fernando - in its historical and discursive contexts and by means of an analysis grounded in literary theory seeks to examine the ideological appropriation implicit in historical discourse.
