LOCAL AUTHORITIES' INVOLVEMENT IN FREIGHT TRANSPORT IN THE CITIES. THE CASE OF POLAND

The main aim of the city logistics is the coordination of people and material flow within the city. However, freight transport in the city is still not taken into account by most local authorities in transportation plans. The paper presents survey results conducted in Polish cities with the county rights. The main aim of the research was to verify the extent of local authorities involvement in urban freight transport. According to the survey results Polish local authorities are insufficiently involved in improving the movement of goods within the city. In the author's opinion freight transport should be included in the city logistics functional strategy.
