An Energy-Aware Chunk Selection Mechanism in HTTP Video Streaming

摘要
In recent years, video streaming has contribute 40% traffic in LTE wireless networks. However, battery has been a bottleneck for user to enjoy the high quality video since the progress of battery technique is far less than the advancement of wireless technique. How to enable users to enjoy video streaming given limited battery is an urgent problem. In this paper, we propose a video transmission mechanism which optimize the chunk size of HTTP streaming by taking into account the user watching behavior and characteristics of LTE networks. Numerical results shows our mechanism can save energy apparently compared with existing schemes.
