Effect of Ethanol Washing On Morphology of Nd: Y2O3 Powder and On Its Sinterability

摘要
Nano-powder of neodymium doped Y2O3 was successfully synthesized by co-precipitation method. It has been observed that washing of precursor with ethanol or water has significant effect on powder morphology and thereby on sinterability. TEM of the calcined powder shows needle like morphology for precursor washed with alcohol and nearly spherical when washed with water. The ceramic prepared from water washed precursor has higher sinterability than the other. Higher sinterability of the samples led to optical transparency in the samples.
