Hydrogen-induced cracking of an alumina ceramic

摘要
The possibility of hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC) of alumina ceramic during cathodic charging under constant load was studied. HIC was compared to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in water. It was found that hydrogen could enter into alumina ceramic during cathodic charging and HIC occurred during charging under constant load.
