摘要
The effect of benzoic acid and iron on growth and yield of tomato in calcareous soil was tested with a Douglas mineral nutrient solution added with two levels of ferric sulfate (1 and 2 mg/L) and benzoic acid application (0 and 0.0001 molar). The four mineral nutrient solutions were applied when plants were irrigated. Soil properties were verified before and after finishing the treatments. It was observed a decrease in Mg and Na in the saturated paste extract associated with the application of benzoic acid, and an increase in the extractable levels of Fe and P. The application of benzoic acid showed a significantly positive effect in fruit yield, with an increase in 49% when using the treatment of benzoic acid plus ferric sulfate at 2 mg/L. However, no yield differences were due to the iron levels, although ferric sulfate increase fruit diameter and firmness. Fruits from benzoic acid treatments showed the highest values of total dissolved solids.
