摘要
During the repair of archaeological artifacts broken into pieces, there are positioning problems similar to when putting together a jigsaw puzzle. This study describes a computer-assisted system to conveniently reconstruct archaeological discoveries from fragments. A hybrid method based on a genetic algorithm and a hill-climbing algorithm was proposed and evaluated to rebuild a 3D object. Using the correct patterns as plane images from various camera angles, the proposed method with an improved genetic algorithm was able to regulate the 3D surfaces efficiently. In addition, the user interface, including the functions of design drawing, was constructed to assist in repair work. Further studies and improvements will be required to apply the proposed method and user interface for 3D remodeling to practical applications.
