Inductive damping of nonlinear solitary Rossby vortices in the ionospheric F-layer

摘要
It is shown that charged particles in the Earth's ionosphere and the geomagnetic field give rise to the inductive (magnetic) damping of nonlinear solitary Rossby vortices in the F-layer. The nonlinear equation describing the dynamics of nonlinear structures is derived. The damping time of Rossby vortices is estimated.
