摘要
A flower-like nanostructure composed of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocrystals was synthesized using a template-free aqueous solution method and investigated as a room-temperature nitric oxide (NO) gas sensing material. The flower-like ZnO nanomaterial was characterized by X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and BET specific surface area measurement. The flower-like nanostructure exhibited higher sensor responses than commercial ZnO nanoparticles. A sensor response (S = resistance of N-2 gas/resistance of NO gas) of 20.1 to 1000 ppm NO was achieved by the ZnO nanoflower, compared to a response of 5.6 for the commercial ZnO nanoparticles. The response time (T-90) and recovery time (T-R90) for the flower-like ZnO nanomaterial were 22.1 and 51.7 min, respectively. A sensing mechanism involving adsorption, surface reaction, and desorption was proposed to explain the long response and recovery times for the nanoflower.
