Temperature dependent dielectric, ferroelectric and energy storage properties in Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3(BNT) nanoparticles

摘要
Nanoparticles of Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 (BNT) were synthesized by sol-gel method. Structural and morphological studies of BNT nanoparticles have been made using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) as well as FT-IR confirms formation of nanospheres with crystallite size 23 nm. BNT nanoparticles displayed a decrease in dielectric constant with the frequency owing to Maxwell-Wagner polarization. The temperature dependence of dielectric constant at different fixed frequencies of the BNT nanoparticles showed two distinctive peaks at 283 degrees C and 322 degrees C attributed to the phase transition from ferroelectric to antiferroelectric and antiferroelectric to paraelectric phases respectively. Ferroelectric studies displayed enhancement in polarization (P-r = 12.75 mu C/cm(2)) with increasing temperature and electric field. The energy storage studies of BNT nanoparticles showed improvement with temperature and indicate their potential for silicon-based memory devices and other energy storage devices.
