摘要
Heathrow is the world's busiest international airport and BAA, its owner, is the world's largest commercial airport operator. Over the next ten years BAA will invest over pound 4.4 billion in new and improved facilities. Much of this investment will involve construction in areas that are constrained by existing structures and operational regulations. This is particularly so within Heathrow central terminal area which is situated at the centre of the airfield and has limited opportunities for expansion. Solutions, therefore, must often be innovative in terms of their planning and construction. The development of Europier and its associated infrastructure is an excellent example of how the airport's planning and construction teams mere able to work together to significantly improve levels of service for Terminal 1 and 2.
