According to a plan, eleven samples of plain jersey and rib knit fabrics were made and analyzed. They were knitted on flat and circular single bed and double bed knitting machines with machine gauges E5, E6, E12 and E17. Fourteen various yarns were used for knitting: one polyamid filament yarn, one elastane yam, four different wool/PAN blends and 8 different cotton yarns. Five were plied yams and seven were single yams with counts from 11 to 64 tex x 2. Out of 11 plated knitted fabric samples seven samples were made from 4 yarns knitted in one knitted fabric course. One knitted fabric course contains yams of different raw material composition, fineness, structure, properties and colour. Significant parameters of the structure of plated knitted fabrics such as mass per unit area, knitted fabric thickness, volumetric mass, mass and volumetric porosity of the knitted fabric were analyzed. Special emphasis was on the analysis of the length of stitches made of aforementioned individual yarns.
